INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD FOR HEALING?
In Luke 5:12, “And it came to pass, when he [Jesus] was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy; who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt,
thou canst make me clean.”
Luke was a Physician, and he described this man full of leprosy— thus giving more detail. Just like today we have situations that medical science cannot cure and is considered a death sentence. Like today there are sickness and disease that demand quarantine for the protection of society. Family and friends can only communicate through devices or through masks. It is a type of excommunication.
In the first century someone like a leper would have to wear a certain type of outfit and could only live in a leper colony. If they were out and about and someone were to approach them they were legally required to shout: “LEPER” over and over and they were forced to run away.
This precious man dared to defy the laws of the land and approached the Lord Jesus Christ and asked for healing— "IF" the Lord was willing.
BILLIONS BELIEVE A LIE
He said to the Lord:“If you will, you can make me clean.” Billions of people on planet earth who have some form of physical or medical condition are crying out to be healed. There are countless schools of thought out there even in Christendom that believe it’s God will for them to suffer their sickness or disease— even birth defects.
Some believe that God CAN heal them but won’t in order to teach them a lesson. They actually believe God uses sickness and disease to develop their character - for a child of God who out of their own freewill choice cooperated with the Grace and Truth that's in Jesus and had a heart transforming repentance will never abuse us with sin, sickness or poverty. They will even quote scripture (out of context) — “If it be Your Will”. However, if one looks at the New Testament without the filter of preconceived ideas; we can see clearly see what God’s Will is for us who battle sickness and disease.
It says it right in verse 13, “He [Jesus] put forth his
hand, and touched him.” —Violating the Law of Moses and the local law the Romans superimposed on Israel.
Verse 13 alone screams volumes about the character of Jesus— Whom is the exact representation of the Father. the Lord Jesus Christ says without skipping a beat— “I am willing” and not only is He willing but He is able to heal.
THE WORD “BE”
The word “be” is defined is a connecting word that describes a “state of being” or “existence”. Therefore, we can safely say that the Lord Jesus Christ changed this man’s existence from being in a cursed diseased state to a restored healthy state physically speaking and subsequently he was restored back to society, back to his family, friends and occupation — he was restored back to HEALTHY, FUNCTIONAL, NORMAL.
When The Lord Jesus Christ said, “You, be clean.” The Bible says, “And immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy,” HALLELUJAH!
The Bible is God breathed and holy men spoke and wrote the words of eternal Life. In this case Luke wrote what the eye witnesses told him and it is a historically-accurate account. This is NOT a Bible story— it’s a Biblical account of actual events.
God is immutable (Does not change and cannot be changed) He is the same yesterday, today and forever. To this very day if someone were to ask Him, “Lord,
I know You can heal me, if You want to.” The Lord Jesus Christ would say and do the exact same thing as for this terminally ill man.
The Bible says He does not change, —SEE Malachi 3:6. The Bible also says He is no respecter of persons — SEE Acts 10:34
We believe the Bible, in its original expression to be the Truth — God’s will is to heal and restore to this very day all who ask and receive in and by faith.
The answer is the same to this very day: “I will. Be You clean!”
The Lord Jesus Christ never said, “I won’t”? You will never find a passage of “I won’t” or “I can’t.” Or even, “Not right now — You have some growing to do and this sickness will develop your godly character.”
Now waiting on the Lord concerning our Gifts and Callings and the timing of God for our life as any good parent does with a child who needs development before they receive an inheritance or authority over an estate or other entities is another matter. No good parent will allow sickness or disease on their child. They would rush their child to the hospital regardless of the cost; is God any less of a parent? God will never teach us with sin, sickness or poverty. He teaches us through His Word by His Holy Spirit.
There is a running joke among preachers: “For something to be scriptural, one needs scriptures”. Not only do we need scriptures but we need them in context and in the right dispensation.
WHAT IS A DISPENSATION
A dispensation in Christian theology is a divinely ordained order of things prevailing at a particular period of time in history or simply, a divinely appointed set time. For example what we call the Old Testament is a dispensation that was governed by spiritual Laws before The Death, Burial, and Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ. Certain Laws still apply but others Laws do not apply for those in Christ. The Law of Sin and Death for example, no longer apply for those in Christ Jesus. We live in a glorious dispensation because of the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!
The Curse of the Law doesn’t apply to us who are in Christ and are walking according to the Spirit but religion will say otherwise because of bad experiences with loved ones — but this does not prove the will of God. This only proves that we live in a fallen world and we all will go as far as our faith will take us. This is why we have to develop our faith in the Word of God and NOT on bad experiences. We can still operate under the Curse of the Law if we want out of our own free will. But we do not have to — ITS UP TO US.
There are about two billion Christians who believe, “Sometimes He will heal, and sometimes He won’t heal”. This frees the individual from any personal responsibility to fight the good fight of faith.
FREEWILL CHOICE
Still, there are billions of people in sick rooms and hospital
rooms begging God, “Heal me!” And asking: “Why won’t God heal me!” Not only do they not know God’s love and character but they do not understand that He already healed them 2,000 years ago in the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
BUT THIS IS THE WORD OF FAITH ZONE
We have to be able ministers of the New Testament and guide with revelation knowledge and experiential understanding. New Testament Faith doesn't just believe that God wants to heal us and thus will heal us; but GOD ALREADY HAS HEALED US in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and the day we received Jesus as Lord and Savior into our hearts, we received the full Salvation package of forgiveness, rightness with God, healing for our whole being and the blessing that makes us rich. In order for the Supernatural to manifest in us and in our lives we have to get this revelation even while sickness is ravaging our bodies; WE ARE HEALED - RIGHT NOW.
This is the language of faith - The God kind of faith. We call things that are not as though they are. Those submitted to their five senses will have a hard time with this. The God kind of Faith takes what is already given in the New birth because the Word God is the first and final Authority for the God kind of faith.
THE DEVIL'S TRICK
The trick of the Devil is to keep us thinking "WE NEED TO GET HEALED" keeping our faith in a future divine action. The Devil wants us to keep saying we need healing that we are NOT healed - "Look, I'm still dealing with symptoms." Or "The doctor's report says I am terminal!" In frustration and fear they say; "I'm not healed - stupid! Can't you see?" Yes, we can see but we walk by faith and NOT by sight or any other of the five senses. We also do not lean on our own understanding. We have learned - to the degree we are carnal (subject to our five senses and emotional feelings) the less we walk in the Authority we have in Christ.
PRESENT TENSE FAITH
Up until the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ all prophecy looked to the future concerning the Messiah and the New Covenant. It spoke of a future day where things will be different. Now is that day for much of those prophecy’s. That’s why New Testament faith is present-tense just NOT future-tense. There is still much in the future that we are not experiencing yet but even still we can walk as Jesus walked the earth.
To declare or speak of things that are not yet a physical reality, as if they already exist, based on present-tense faith that is founded on the promises of God in Christ Jesus. God's creative power and the ability to bring about a desired outcome through faith and declarations is in our born-again DNA.
Romans 4:17, from the Amplified Bible, says, "As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed."
To understand PRESENT-TENSE FAITH we have to explore how God Himself talks. He is King of time, space and matter. He spoke the universe into existence. When He said, “Let there be light”, light came into existence.
When God renamed Abram to Abraham He was joining Abraham in his desire to have an heir— this faith pleased the Father and the Father spoke how He talks in eternity.
This is the goal of this message to impart the understanding of what faith is and how our faith will make us whole, complete, restored to healthy, functional and supernaturally normal.
We do not ask to be saved after we accept Jesus into our heart — we are saved.
We declare: I am forgiven & saved by the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We declare: I am healed by the stripes of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We declare: I rule and reign as a king and priest by the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are many many scriptures to underscore the fulfillment of the promises of God in Christ Jesus. We will break these promises down systematically through the years.
