I grew up in a very entrepreneurial family. If you are in my home town St. Louis MO. and you met a Frisella they most likely will have their own business. It’s in our blood. We have the entrepreneur gene.
The four C’s:
There is a saying in the business world to never turn your back on the clock, calendar, checkbook and the condition of your business, project or team.
And anytime we have been caught off guard it’s because we failed to do one or more these things.
This Clock, Calendar, Checkbook and Condition is not far off from the Holy Scriptures:
Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds —Proverbs 27:23.
We want to be good stewards of our business or ministry before the LORD. If you are called to what we refer to as entre-missionary; your Call to do business is just as holy as my Call be an Evangelist. We all “are the called according to His purpose” —Romans 8:28. Not all of us submit to it.
So stewardship or management to use a more contemporary word is very important to us because we are doing it unto the LORD. We want to please the LORD and we want to be good to other people. Knowing all leaders will give an account to GOD for how we stewarded His blessings and the people He gave us. Yes, even secular bosses will give an account what they did or didn’t do.
In Church stewardship and ministry we want to be open to the LORD. Available for any leading of the Holy Spirit. This is why we keep a loose schedule and free of contracts that we’re presumably signed. On a daily or monthly basis we could obligate ourselves out of the will of GOD.
However, we can also be shortsighted and everything is last minute and a mad frustrating rush, which leads to error for us and our teams. This is not GOD either.
GOD is not the author of confusion — 1 Corinthians 14:33.
What I suggest you do is:
Don’t blindly mimic others— what GOD has them doing to manage their business or ministry could be for them — not you.
Go before the LORD and ask how you should manage your the clock, the calendar, and the checkbook for your business or ministry— your Time, Talent, Treasure is the only thing we actually have executive responsibility over before the Lord. And yet we still want to ask Him for help to manage this stewardship.
We ask the LORD how to schedule our days and months. By the Holy Spirit we know there will be a week out of every month where we will do studio time to record that month’s themes that GOD has been speaking to us in our study. We treat it like a conference. That way everyone can make plans elsewhere for the rest of the month. The LORD keeps us from being shortsighted and healthy for us and others. We learned this as subordinates and we took it before the LORD and got His instruction concerning this.
We also know the Holiday season will be different for others. Once again we go before the LORD and ask how do we schedule our months for this season?
Nothing is a surprise to GOD. It may be a surprise to us but not Him.
Speaking about our daily routine—Some give the first couple of hours to the LORD, others, because they have a job that schedules them give the last couple of hours to the LORD before they go to sleep. Once again ask GOD what YOU should do. Once you set this time keep it holy— protect Holy Time at all cost. Do not let the cares of this world or desires for other things steal from that time. Give yourself to the LORD in the Word of God, Worship, prayer and intercession for others. Pour it all on the altar before Him.
Then make sure you get quiet and listen to not emotions, imagination, fear, pride, or hypercritical, hypocritical bitterness— that is demons and unclean spirits endeavor to distract you. GOD will never speak to you through this.
You must, on a daily basis get to the place of authentic peace, rest, calmness, and freedom from agitation passions and moral conflicts. This is the place where we can hear the Still Small Voice— the unctions of the Holy Spirit. This is how GOD speaks to us. This is the state of being we hear from GOD.
Our daily fight isn’t not fighting in the FLESH or by any physical means. Our daily fight is to get over into the spirit. And notice I did not say getting over into the Spirit — as in the Holy Spirit. Yes, we do want to get over into the Spirit but it starts with overcoming our own FLESH (the corrupt sinful nature we all were born into). Then we can move into where the Holy Spirit abides inside our born again spirit. This is where those who sincerely love the LORD are constantly longing for. It’s our first love — because it’s there where we bask in His Presence. And for lovers of GOD it’s all we really want. Everything else is secondary or tertiary.
This is why many will go to a quiet place away from daily responsibilities and distractions. I know some even will rent a hotel room just to seek GOD during times of pivotal decisions.
To hear from GOD is not rocket science, you do not need a 150 IQ to receive from GOD. You do, however, need to be willing to do whatever, the LORD leads you to. Until you get into the state of Humility, Honestly, Honor and turn down all other voices that could be sincere but demonically swayed.
GOD usually has two speeds —slow and slower. It’s okay because He is always ahead of everything. We can lag behind Him but that’s on us.
However, once you do receive your command. And yes, it’s a command not a suggestion for you to consider or reject; consult NOT with flesh and blood. At all cost, with moral excellence, follow through with your instructions. If you do not follow through, you will not get anymore instructions. If you won’t do what He first tells you to do then you do not qualify for the next step. This is often why sincere believers stall their Gifts & Callings and prosperity in Christ.
Go back to what He last unctioned you to do. Humble yourself before the LORD— repent.
The window of time to do the last unction may have closed. Tell Him you will do whatever He tells you to do.
The respond may take time — even weeks. It’s not Him. GOD doesn’t hold grudges. He is waiting on you to get to the place of wholehearted willing obedience. Meanwhile, be a doer of the Word of God. Serve others, worship Him. Be sensitive to your born again spirit by fasting — lunch, TV (it’s just vain entertainment anyway), hook up with your spouse or a brothers or sister in the LORD that you can fellowship in the Spirit with.
You may notice when you are about to do something your gut gets tight — honor that. That’s the Holy Spirit telling you to NOT to do something. In our circles we call it a “check”. You might hear one of us say: “I was going to do that but I got a check in my spirit”. This is how GOD leads us through what is called the “inner witness” or the “inward witness”
The inward witness is the primary, way the Holy Spirit guides every sincere believer. Romans 8:16 says "The Spirit Himself bears “witness” with our spirit". He will not speak through what you through your five senses, or through your emotions, or through your intellect. He won’t speak to you through your imagination. Those things have a purpose but they are not to lead us and they are not the means GOD speaks to us.
However, demons and unclean spirits will endeavor to hype up the five senses or emotions to get us to make the wrong decisions.
Never trust a voice — the Still Small Voice is not auditory— it’s a quiet knowing, not an emotional psychosomatic high. Or mental reasoning. Once again, logic, has its place but it should never override our spirit. A hyper fearful voice is not how GOD speaks to us, but a quiet, inner assurance a "deep knowing" in our hearts. That’s where He guides us.
You may never hear the voice of GOD in this life but He is always speaking to us through our conscience. If we keep it clear of unconfessed sin and are brutally honest with the Word of God and our actions GOD can speak to us through our conscience, as Paul said in Romans 9:1; My conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit. Paul also talks about our conscience in 1 Timothy 1:19; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck. But do not fear! Thank GOD we live in this dispensation.
"Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work — 2 Timothy 2:21 ESV.
Our simple conviction not wanting to lie, cheat, steal, mooch, manipulate — keeps ourselves from any immorality — sexual or nonsexual. This sets us apart to “every good work”. Or one could say actions or even better yet — faith action.
All of this helps us to manage our Time, Talent, Treasure and to never turn our back on the four C’s.
Peace and love as you work out your own salvation— in Jesus Name.
